Knoxville Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence

The Knoxville Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence is holding an auction THIS Saturday, May 3 at the Knox County Fairgrounds.  This foundation is a tax-exempt charitable organization whose mission is to support all students by providing increased educational experiences and opportunities.  Past projects have included the Mable Woolsey kindergarten building, computer programs, smart boards for the district, tumbling mats and the junior high challenger program.

Please stop by this Saturday and support the Foundation.  There are fabulous donations and baskets from the classrooms this year, as well as a raffle, food and a bake sale.

I have donated two gift certificates to the foundation auction, each good redeemable for a complimentary on-location portrait session and a complimentary 8×10 print.    Please be sure to stop by and support our schools.

Auction will begin at 6PM.  Looking forward to seeing you there!

‘09 Senior Models

I am searching for a few 2009 senior models. If you are chosen, you’ll receive a complimentary session as well as some awesome bonuses and referral gifts. We’ll hold your session on-location, using natural light but I’ll gladly accomodate multiple locations and outfit changes to give you variety in your final senior images. The only requirement is you have to be a 2009 senior in the western/central illinois area, and you have to be willing to have FUN…no stuffy senior portraits around here!

Yearbook deadlines will roll around before you know it, so get started early! I’ll have some fun offerings for seniors this season, including 4-1-1 cards, graduation announcements and party invitations, albums and more!

Celebrating Adoption

I am so proud to be a part of this organization, and have had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful new families as a result of this affiliation.

From the Celebrating Adoption website:
“Celebrating Adoption is an organization of photographers dedicated to promoting adoption. Our participating photographers are very different: some shoot with natural light while others use studio light; some prefer posing the subject while others prefer the spontaneity of lifestyle photography; but we all have one thing in common, the desire to celebrate your adoption with you!

What is a Celebrating Adoption session?

If you are an adoptive family and have adopted your child within the last year, you qualify for a Celebrating Adoption session.

You will receive a complimentary portrait session (session fee is waived) and a set of proofs.”

Be sure to visit the Celebrating Adoption website at www.celebratingadoption.org for complete details.

I reserve a limited number of sessions each month for Celebrating Adoption sessions, so be sure to inquire early. My sessions are conducted on-location, using available light. For more information, send me an email at info@walkerportraits.com or call (309) 368-1129.

Find me on Facebook

I have been on Facebook for a while, but have never really gotten the hang of it.   I am trying my best, though, to be COOL  :).  I am trying to keep up with all the drinks passed my way, all the poking and prodding.  It’s so much fun to keep in touch with people!

So look me up on Facebook at:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Peoria-IL/Walker-Portraits/22929505316

or my personal page HERE.

And of course, if there is something awesome that I am missing, let me know!

I will be searching for some ‘09 senior reps very soon, and will post details there, so check back for more!  If you know a fun, funky high school junior in the central illinois area, have them contact me for more information and details.

And since I can’t post without a photo, here’s an oldie but goodie I dug up.  She was about 2, and sitting on grandpa’s tractor.

We have moved!!

Please update your bookmarks to our NEW website and blog pages! It’s been a crazy season…we moved to a new home in December. Note to self: Never move the week before Christmas! It’s been a crazy few months getting settled in, but spring is right around the corner, I hope! We’ve got lots of work to do on it, but I am excited about the possibilities.

We’re kicking off the new season with a move to a new site (and hopefully a NEW site soon) and a new blog that I hope will be updated much more frequently!

Fall is here in Central Illinois

No doubt about it! I am quickly running out of available dates for fall sessions at Michelle Walker Photography, so get your date reserved as soon as possible for fall family portraits and holiday cards. Email Michelle for more information about availability. Most are late October and Early November at this point.

Some shots I took this morning of the “hairy beans” as my daughter likes to call them.

Fall Beans

These flowers just make me smile. They wrap around the soybeans or corn stalks, and then have these pretty blue blooms. It creates quite a contrast against the rich fall colors. One last little breath of spring, I guess.

Bridal Registry Now Available

Did you know that we offer a Bridal Registry for gift-giving to our wedding couples? Your guests can now give the gift of portrait memories, and you get to choose exactly what you want!

A Bridal Registry is set up for each couple who books a wedding with Michelle Walker Photography. Your guests can then make a purchase in any denomination for use toward your choice of prints, enlargements, cards and traditional or coffee-table albums. I send a custom gift certificate (complete with personal message) to your guest so that they can present the gift to you at the appropriate occasion. The couple’s account is credited with this amount, and can be used toward the purchase of any images you wish…just like a gift card!

These are perfect for bridal showers or wedding gifts, and it’s a gift that will treasured forever. For more information about our wedding availability and options, visit our website at http://www.michellewalkerphotography.com or contact Michelle for more information.

Referrals

Don’t forget about referral print credits! You get a $20 print credit for each person that you refer for a session. Just have them mention your name when they book their session, and once I have completed their session I add a $20 credit to your account. Take advantage of the referral credit as often as you wish! You can combine multiple print credits in one order, AND if you refer 4 people, you get a $100 print credit! Thank you for spreading the word!

By Request - Flexible Collections

I have had so many requests for more flexible collections, so starting October 1, 2007 I will be implementing new collection pricing so that you can choose the print sizes that YOU want. New and returning clients can request the new collection information by sending me an email or using the contact form.

I love the idea of these…you can choose the perfect combination of prints for you and not be locked into the specific sizes that were in my previous packages.

And here are a few photos from our house this week. My youngest started preschool this week (how did that happen?). Here she is one her first day of school…

She didn’t want to face me, because showing off the brand spankin’ new backpack was far more important to her than smiling for the camera…..

And onto the bus they go. She was so glad that she could ride with Danielle in the morning…
